Assessment of risk in portal hypertension surgery in patients with liver cirrhosis (literature review)

Severity of liver dysfunction, comorbidities, type and complexity of surgery, including elective or emergency surgery, are determinants of perioperative mortality and morbidity in patients with cirrhosis. Risk stratification is a powerful decision-making tool and should be a mandatory part of surgical practice. In this paper we briefly describe and define perioperative risk scores commonly used for portal hypertension surgery in terms of their predictive values and clinicalapplicability to predict morbi-, mortality postoperative.
