Abstract

Introduction. Intestinal occlusion in pregnant women is characterized by the difficulty of diagnosis and the negative prognosis for the pregnant woman (35-50%) and the fetus (60%). Purpose. Study of the etiology and particularities in the management of pregnant women with acute intestinal occlusion. Material and methods. We conducted a study of the treatment of 4 pregnant women with acute intestinal occlusion. Patients were examined clinically, laboratory, USG, abdominal X-ray, consulted by a gynecologist, surgeon, endoscopist, etc. Results. The treatment performed in 4 pregnant women with acute intestinal occlusion was complex, individual, successful. Surgical interventions: caesarean section, laparotomy was performed, new borns alive. In 2 patients the pregnancy was preserved. Conclusions. The causes of mechanical intestinal occlusion in pregnant women were volvulus of the sigmoid colon and intra-abdominal adhesion process after previous operations. The management peculiarities of pregnant women with intestinal occlusion were: diagnostic difficulties, late referral, unclear clinical picture.
