Rezumat

The article presents key issues related to the epidemiology definition, subject field and epidemiology methods. It is given the definition and characterization of an epidemiological approach of human diseases studying. The stages of epidemiology development are described as well. In this article are discussed the structure and content of modern epidemiology as the basic medical sciences relevant to prophylactic medicine field. Are presented the main directions of epidemiology research.
