Аннотация

Scoliosis remains an actual problem of pediatrics and orthopedics around the world. Research into the causation of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis draws heavily from mechanical and biological disciples, but still lacks an agreed theory of etiopathogenesis. Genetic factors are believed to play an important role in the etiology of AIS with considerable heterogeneity. At present, the general consensus is that the etiology of idiopathic scoliosis is multi-factorial. Continued research in the field will hopefully lead to the identification of specific factors that may cause the disorder. In the future, it is likely that genetic testing will lead to earlier diagnosis and treatment of the condition.
