Dynamics of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in early postoperative period in children following surgical closure of isolated ventricular septal defect (VSD)
Abstract
The purpose of the study was dynamic estimation of PAH in early postoperative period in children after surgical closure of isolated VSD. The study included 184 children aged 4 months to 16 years old who underwent cardiac surgery for isolated VSD in the period 2014 – 2016, divided into 5 groups according to their VSD size. PAH values were inferred by estimating the right ventricular systolic pressure (RVSP) using transthoracic echocardiography before surgical treatment and in early postoperative period. The results demonstrated significant improvement in pulmonary arterial hypertension in the early postoperative period (2nd day after surgery) following VSD closure.Downloads
