Clinical - evolutionary and treatment aspects of patients with COVID-19 admitted in the intensive therapy unit

Abstract

Aim. Emphasising the particularities of clinical, laboratory parameters, and the treatment results of critical patients with COVID-19 in the Intensive Care Unit. Material and methods. Totally 100 patients with COVID-19 admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Institute of Emergency Medicine Results. The most common comorbidities were hypertension, diabetes mellitus and obesity. The frequency of application of Oxygen therapy was 74.0% of patients; of non - invasive ventilation was 73.0% while frequency of invasive mechanical ventilation was 30.0% of patients. Conclusions. The treatment protocols led to a significant reduction in CRP, hemoglobin and albumin levels and statistically increase of D-dimer, leukocyte, platelet, ESR, and ALT levels.
