Abstract

Aim. Description of a systematic review about the Brixia score, the rapid quantification of the severity of COVID-19, its diagnostic and clinical significance, its role in the stratification of this category of patients. Material and methods. Publications were selected from PubMed, Hinari, SpringerLink and Google Search databases that highlighted the main aspects of the Brixia Score in correlation with SARS-Cov-2 infection. Results. Brixia radiological quantification correlates positively with other clinical (body mass index, age, comorbidities, PaO2/FiO2 ratio, SpO2 values) and paraclinical (C-reactive protein, D-dimers) indicators, and can be considered a predictor of severity and mortality. Conclusions. In the complex management of the infected patient, the assessment of the progression and severity of COVID-19 by the Brixia score plays a crucial role in clinical decision - making.
