Abstract

Overweight and obesity are global public health problems associated with a high risk of chronic diseases, including hepatopathy. Pre-obesity is considered a transitional state between normal body weight and obesity, requiring timely diagnosis and correction. A total of 591 patients with diffuse liver diseases were examined. The following were formed: group I (gr.) - 177 patients with BMI <25, group II - 228 with BMI 25-30, group III - 186 with BMI>30. BMI, visceral fat, waist circumference and upper arm circumference were assessed. BMI in group III - 34.21±0.32 kg/m², in group II - 27.62±0.12 kg/m², in group I - 28.52±0.18 kg/m². - 23.20±0.19 kg/m². Visceral fat in group III - 15.19 ± 0.39%, in group II - 10.63 ± 0.25%, in group I 7.46 ± 0.27%. Waist circumference in group III - 112.23±0.82cm, in group II - 99.32±0.61cm, in group I - 89.62±0.73cm. Shoulder circumference in group III - 35.16 ± 0.34cm, in group II - 31.66 ± 0.31cm, in group I - 28.64 ± 0.30cm. Pre-obesity in patients with chronic hepatopathies is accompanied by significant changes in anthropometric parameters. Simple measurements such as waist and shoulder circumference can serve as informative markers in assessing nutritional status.
