Abstract

Valvulopathias, which develop secondary to atherosclerosis and to coronary heart disease represent a heterogenous group of pathological conditions and comprise: mitral and aortic valve atherosclerotic fi brosis and calcinosis, acute papillary muscles post-AMI dysfucntion, chronic mitral ischemic regurgitation, mitral regurgitation secondary to the left ventricle dilation as well as chronic post-AMI mitral valve regurgitation. Scientifi cal studies demonstrated that the coexistence of both coronary heart disease and valvular heart disease signifi cantly impaires the patients’ prognosis. If valvular heart disease has developed early, than angina pectoris manifestation also aggravates prognosis secondary to the signifi cant central haemodynamics deterioration and therefore might be treated as one of the indications for surgical correction.
