Purpose. description and analysis of the hospitalized patients with acute heart failure, who were included in the ESC Heart Failure Long-Term Registry Republic of Moldova (ESC-HF-LT Registry RM), their gender differences and the evolution of adherence to optimal drug treatment over the last ten years in the RM. Material and methods. The study group consisted of 254 patients older than 18 years, hospitalized with acute heart failure (HF) during the period 2011 - 2014 in 2 centers in the Republic of Moldova. Results. The majority of hospitalized patients were men (64.9%), with a higher mean age in women. The main cause of HF was ischemic heart disease. Arterial hypertension was more common in women: 80.9% vs 67.9% in men, p<0.05, but among men there were fewer smokers and alcohol drinkers. The main cause of admission was exacerbated heart failure, in patients included in the ESC-HF-LT registry. The mean LV EF values were higher in women: 44.1% vs 37.3% in men, p<0.01. Mortality and readmission rates at 12 months were similar in the female and male patient groups. Conclusion. The clinical characteristics and 12-month outcomes of patients hospitalized with heart failure in the Republic of Moldova were similar compared to patients from other countries included in the ESC Heart Failure Long- term Registry. The rate of drug prescription for the optimal treatment of heart failure in recent years has been high, especially for ACE inhibitors/ARBs and beta-blockers, with a positive trend in the prescription of SGLT-2 inhibitors.
