Rezumat

Hipertensiunea arterială rămâne principala cauză de boală cardiovasculară care poate fi prevenită şi principala cauză de mortalitate generală la nivel global şi european. În pofida progreselor farmacologice, ratele de control ale tensiuni arteriale rămân scăzute la nivel mondial şi sunt departe de a fi satisfăcătoare în Europa. Desimpatizarea arterelor renale reprezintă o metoda inovațională concepută acum 10 ani care presupune întreruperea fibrelor simpatice renale aferente și eferente prin aplicarea energiei cu radiofrecvență, astfel micșorând activitatea simpatică și reducând valorile tensionale. Prin urmare, denervarea renală extinde opțiunile terapeutice pentru a aborda primul obiectiv în tratamentul hipertensiunii arteriale - reducerea eficientă a valorilor tensionale, prin atingerea țintelor terapeutice.
