Сахарный диабет (СД) имеет все большую распространенность во всем мире, является значительным фактором риска сердечно-сосудистых заболеваний. Сосудистые осложнения диабета являются важной причиной заболеваемости и смертности пациентов с диабетом. Венозная тромбоэмболия (ВТЭ) является третьим по распространенности нарушением кровообращения в западных странах, а легочная эмболия - третьей по частоте причиной смерти от сердечно-сосудистых заболеваний после инфаркта и инсульта.Диабет может способствовать тромбозу за счет активации системы свертывания и нарушения фибринолиза, что приводит к состоянию гиперкоагуляции, в то же время сочетается с другими протромботическими факторами включая хроническое воспаление, усиленный окислительный стресс и снижение экспрессии защитных эндотелиальных факторов.Ряд эпидемиологических и клинических исследований которые изучали связь между СД и ВТЭ показали противоречивые результаты ставя под сомнение взаимосвязь между этими двумя заболеваниями. Некоторые сообщили о положительной связи между диабетом и риском ВТЭ, тогда как другие не смогли выявить значимой зависимости. Этот обзор суммирует текущее состояние литературы о связи между диабетом и риском ВТЭ.
