Bronhopneumopatia cronică obstructivă (BPOC) este o cauză majoră de morbiditate și mortalitate la nivel mondialîn rândul populației adulte, ce implică costuri economice majore. Multimorbiditatea este prezența a două sau mai multeafecțiuni cronice la o persoană în același timp. Multimorbiditatea este frecventă la pacienții cu BPOC și este un factorcheie modificabil, ce necesită identificarea în timp util și strategii de management holistic, orientate spre a îmbunătățirezultatele și a reduce povara bolii. Diagnosticul și evaluarea severității BPOC pot fi dificile în prezența afecțiunilor comorbide. Comorbiditățile cresc în număr și în severitate odată cu vârsta pacientului și au un impact major asupra calitățiivieții, spitalizării și nemijlocit mortalității. În cele din urmă, ne vom concentra pe strategiile de management actuale, cuscopul de abordare holistiă, centrată pe pacient, mai curând decât de management al bolii unice.
Aceasta revistă a literaturii reflectă o prezentare generală a comorbidităților în BPOC, factorii de risc dovediți în aparițiaBPOC precum și impactul comorbidităților asupra calității vieții și prognosticului, prin prisma indicilor multidimesionali.
