Articolul se concentrează pe diagnosticul și tratamentul hemotoraxului. Discută cauzele majore (traumatice, spontane,
iatrogene), abordările terapeutice și indicațiile chirurgicale. Accentul este pus pe drenajul precoce cu tub toracic, chirurgia
toracoscopică video-asistată (VATS) la pacienții stabili și toracotomia în cazurile instabile. Rolul profilaxiei antibiotice
și al terapiei fibrinolitice intrapleurale în reducerea complicațiilor este evidențiat. Diagnosticul la timp și strategiile
individualizate reduc mortalitatea și îmbunătățesc rezultatele.
